Handcrafted Luxury

Weaving is an art form that resides in the soul of the community.

Text by Asmita Aggarwal

Singhania’s USP has always been the quality. We constantly work on launching new designs. A contemporary collection with traditional elements is our forte. Some of the designs may work for mature and some will work for the younger women, but we always make sure that the design is relatable to everyone. You will also find that the quality of the zari used here is the best. Among the wide usage of synthetic zari, we choose metal zari dipped in gold or silver. This retains the authenticity of the craft and its rich sheen. It makes a huge difference to the producers of zari. We believe in sustaining craftsmanship in every way possible. The business definitely is sustainable as we create a community of weavers who sustain their livelihoods through the craft.

The post covid world has shrunk and we have found that the communication to our target audience is direct. We are able to teach, create awareness about the brand, and generate interest instantly. It is equivalent to the traditional media.

During 1999, saree shopping was a personal experience limited amongst friends and family. Women usually planned it way ahead, to come by the shop and pick their set of saris. It used to be always near a family event, a wedding or anything that is very special. They all had a collective opinion in shopping and all the women shopped together. In those days, women picked the shop through a close friend’s reference – word-of-mouth. Our shop salespeople were known amongst their close circle. A personalised relationship.

Today, we see young women walk in confidently. They know their preferences and are aware of the different crafts and workmanship. The buying patterns in the last 5-years have changed tremendously.

They are opening up to conversations. When we engage with the audience, they accept the change. One has to no longer come down to the shop to buy a sari. Their curiosity is piqued and they give us their list of desires. If we succeed to fulfil all of it, we have actually won their trust and loyalty.

A satisfied customer will always want to buy from you, online or offline.

We make interventions in the designs regularly. All our collections are from carefully styled and designed artistic work. We provide the raw materials, and we do not compromise at all. This is very important as we want the best results. To provide only the best to our discerning clients is the only aim. So we have built printing units, embroidery units, silk spinning units, silk cocoon to yarn manufacturing units and more craft centres. In this manner, we steadily sustain the quality of the fabrics produced. Weaving is an art form that resides in the soul of the community. The centres are the heart of many communities that benefit from the units.

Currently Singhania’s have over 900 weavers, 22 clusters, and a special design team working closely in order to safeguard the weaving traditions of this land. From the Kani weavers of Kashmir to Mural Artisans of Kerala, the presence of Singhania is heartwarming and equally formidable.

This intervention is needed as this will enable the weavers to produce different collections all through the year.

Slow fashion is here to stay. The cultural identity of this land is the sari. Any woman across ages or ethnicity identifies Indian heritage with the sari. We are very proud that we are able to present this sari since in all its changing avatars. To find a relatable link with the sari is very important and every woman connects with it.

It is so special that these days to actually receive a personalised experience; be it at the shop or through our digital channels. It is rare. We boast of our special design and stylist team who are well versed both in the ancient sensibilities and in the modern scenario.

You can step into the store and get a one-of-its kind design available for you. An out of the world experience is what we promise you. We are old fashioned and we offer the services exactly the same way we did 150 years ago. It still feels kind of surreal that we are able to hold on to it. It’s thrilling to see something stay forever, and still stay the same.
