Beauty & The Bride

What happens when the bride is a professional makeup artist herself? Tatiana Dias speaks to

three such newlywed experts who spill the beans on their own bridal beauty experience & share their tried-and-true hacks

RIDDHIMA SHARMA KHUBCHANDANI

Celebrity Makeup Artist

For Mumbai-based Riddhima Sharma Khubchandani, doing her own makeup for her wedding this January felt like the perfect indulgence. “It was therapeutic,” says the artist who routinely works with celebrities like Ananya Panday, Khushi Kapoor and Rashmika Mandana.

In keeping with the theme and the aesthetic direction of the ceremonies in mind, Khubchandani steered more towards natural and classic makeup looks. “I am not someone who over plans. I went with my instinct. Comfort was key,” she says. “I didn’t want to look back at my wedding photos and wonder what I was thinking.”

BRIDAL BEAUTY RITUALS

“I opted for dermaplaning on my face. It’s an excellent, non-invasive way to remove peach fuzz, exfoliate the skin and maintain an even-toned glow.” Besides skincare and a strict diet, a few

days before the wedding, she chose to get the ‘Red-Carpet Glow Facial’ at the Ageless Clinic in Mumbai, known to exfoliate, detan and amp up the skin’s radiance.

PRO-TIP

“Consider colouring your hair for the wedding. The right colour always elevates hairdos, complements your skin tone and brightens the face.”

WORD OF ADVICE

“Ultimately, every bride will look beautiful. It’s really not going to matter if your lipstick is a little off or if the skin’s a bit greasy in the photos. So, just have a good time.

NATASHA MOOR

Makeup Artist & Founder, Natasha Moor Cosmetics

“Planning my bridal glam was a surreal, full-circle moment,” says Hong Kong-raised, LA-based makeup artist Natasha Moor. “I knew exactly what would photograph well, and make me feel authentically myself,” says the bride, who did her own makeup for her civil wedding in December 2024. “Every ceremony had its unique beauty vibe. I experimented with looks like romantic minimalism and bold glam; I wanted every event to have its own story,” Moor says.

BRIDAL BEAUTY RITUALS

“Skincare and soul care were equally important. I hydrated religiously, nourished my body, and prioritised my peace.” Moor started prepping her skin six months before the celebrations.

“I opted for gentle peels and lasers to keep the canvas glowing,” she shares. Moor worked closely with Beverly Hills-based cosmetic dermatologist Daniella Newman. “I even went on doxycycline, an anti-inflammatory drug, two weeks out to combat any redness.”

PRO-TIP

“Layer your setting spray throughout, not just at the end. It’s an insider secret that locks everything in like second skin.”

WORD OF ADVICE

“This is not the time to experiment with something that doesn’t reflect your essence. Your wedding glam should feel like an elevated version of you, not a filtered version of someone else.”

SHRADDHA INDER MEHTA

Celebrity Makeup Artist

While Tara Sutaria and Mira Kapoor swear by her, Shraddha Inder Mehta did not want to take matters into her own hands for her big day in November 2024. “Everyone assumed that I’d do the makeup myself, but it was the only time in my life when I didn’t want to,” confesses the Mumbai-based bride. Instead, she chose to work with her mentor and fellow celebrity makeup artist Lekha Gupta. Her only brief? “My makeup had to look like skin,” says Mehta. “I wanted to look like a better version of myself, and not like somebody else.”

BRIDAL BEAUTY RITUALS

“I dunked my face into a big bowl of ice water before every event. It’s great for tightening the skin.” Mehta also worked with dermatologist Dr Jasbir Kaur Karel at Dermaessentia Skin & Laser Center in Mumbai to tackle her dry skin, including exfoliating and hydrating treatments.

PRO-TIP

“Use setting powder with a wet beauty blender and dab it under your eyes. It’s a quick hack to keep your under-eye makeup intact through the event.”

WORD OF ADVICE

“It’s very important to communicate your vision to the makeup artists well in advance. Plan ahead and share references.”
