They say diamonds are a woman’s best friend, and RK Jewellers couldn’t agree more. Co-founded in 1994 by Rakesh and Sunita Sharma, who share an equal passion for jewellery, the brand has set new benchmarks…their journey began from a small store in the bylanes of South Extension and today, the brand is present in more than six countries. Currently led by sister-brother duo Prakshi and Rohan Sharma, award-winning jewellery designer and gemologist respectively, respectively, RK Jewellers takes pride in celebrating the emotional value associated with jewellery. Prakshi and Rohan share, “One buys a piece of jewellery not just to wear for a special occasion, but also to pass it on to the next generation. Jewellery, to us, is the most precious heirloom.” As a result, their carefully-crafted pieces resonate with multiple generations within a family, and the designs stay relevant generations down the line. Customising and delivering bespoke jewellery to clients across the world, the brand is renowned for its distinctive style that revives traditional designs with modernity. RK Jewellers, in its vision, aims to restore the traditional value behind the craftsmanship while also bringing in contemporary elements. This unique approach is what makes each piece memorable for its customers, especially those who are seeking something different and fashionable. In an exclusive interview with Bridal Asia, the duo shares the techniques they have adapted to make the pieces look both regal and modern at once. “We reinterpret classic motifs, such as floral patterns, paisley designs, and intricate filigree work, with a fresh and contemporary approach.” They add, “We play with proportions, experiment with geometric shapes, and introduce asymmetry, resulting in jewellery that is visually striking and relevant to modern sensibilities.”

Discussing the various trends that are currently in favour for the wedding season, Prakshi and Rohan share, “Heavy, statement pieces are very popular thesedays, especially with regards to bridal jewellery. Many brides are keen on wearing bold, eye-catching designs that make a strong statement on their wedding day. These heavy statement pieces add a touch of grandeur and elegance to the overall bridal look, making the bride stand out and feel like a queen.” Having earned many accolades and made their mark in the industry, the brand experiments with designs using regular round, pear, and marquise cuts. Additionally, the brand also makes use of triangular and shield cuts in both rose- and full-cut diamonds. “What makes our creations truly unique is how we lay them out with hand and the patterns we create with them,” they share. Talking about the various reasons why brides choose to wear their pieces on their big day, the siblings reveal, “Millennial brides really appreciate our pieces because they are unique, statement-making, and always have an heirloom value.”
